Catherine Polovick L.Ac., M.Om., Dipl. Ac. – Edina Clinic
I graduated from the University of MN-Twin Cities with my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I received my master’s degree from the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Northwestern Health Sciences University here in Bloomington, MN. I am board certified in Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). I am also a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Minnesota by the Minnesota Board of Medicine. My bachelor’s degree in Psychology is from the University of MN-Twin Cities.
While an undergraduate, I took a community education class with a friend on using principles of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) to care for oneself. During my final semester at the U, I was able to take classes through the School of Nursing on Complementary and Alternative Medicine, then Traditional Chinese Medicine and Healing Touch. At this time, I was referred by a professor to an Acupuncturist, and six treatments took care of my allergies and TMJ. A seed had been planted.
After undergrad, I attended Ahern’s Massage Therapy School in Mariposa, California where my training was based on Native American healing philosophies and TCM. I was also attuned to Reiki while in California. Upon returning to Minnesota, I worked as a massage therapist for just over a year before beginning my formal education in TCM. I began to practice in April of 2008 and have worked in the Twin Cities and in Long Prairie, MN. I have taught community education classes and am looking forward to hosting classes and workshops at CAHC.
I have treated patients for a wide variety of issues, including both acute and chronic pain, sleep disorders, digestive issues, anxiety and depression, stress-related issues and overall wellness, and allergies and inflammatory conditions. I am also certified in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.
The tipping point that led me to a career in TCM was being equipped to treat the root cause of problems; to look at all the body’s systems and how they are working together (or not) and to assist in restoring balance to the body, mind and spirit. My education and work experience have given me so many tools to use and my passion is to use this information to benefit as many people as possible.
In my down time I like to take my dog for epicly long hikes around the Twin Cities; I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, being outdoors and most of all being surrounded by my people and pets.
